A script is important because it sets the narrative of the trailer. It tells the actors what to do, and when to do it; usually in chronological order. Having written a script before filming the trailer, it means that it can get finalised to ensure that its right. Rather than improvising, some of the dialogue may not be as effective as what you could script.
Our First Idea:
Girl: Whats Maya having for tea?
Mum: We left Maya in the old house didn't we?
Girl: Maya won't like that
Mum: She isn't real is she?
Girl: Maya where are you? Teas ready.
Girl: There you are, i knew you were there.
*Girl stabs mum* Girl: It wasn't me it was Maya.
Girl: Maya wants to play with you
Girl: Maya said come out to play
Girl: No no Maya don't do it
Girl: Don't hurt her
Girl: *SCREAMS*
Girl: You'll be in trouble now
Lily: Who is she, is Maya your friend?
Lily: Theres nobody there i don't know what you're on about.
Our Final Idea:
Girl: Whats Maya having for tea?
Girl: Maya doesn't like that?
Girl: Maya where are you? Teas ready.
Girl: There you are! I knew you were there!
Girl: Maya said come out to play
Girl: It wasn't me, it was Maya!
Girl: Maya wants to play with you
Girl: *Giggles*
Girl: She'll hurt you if you don't play with Maya
Girl: I will find you, and i will kill you.
We chose to adapt our script from having 3 voices to just the little girl because we felt as if there would be too much dialogue. We then changed the script so that it would make sense just her talking on her own. We found that just having the girl on her own was more effective and obvious that 'Maya' was the imaginary friend.
